"Can't Read, Can't Write, Here's My Book" is told through the eyes of Micheal Jacques, a compassionate and determined young adult with autism and an intellectual disability. What started out as a journal has now become a self-published book leaving an imprint on the world. His life experiences have shaped the strong, confident and optimistic person he is today. He offers a unique and authentic perspective of the world, and is honest about how life wasn't always easy with the challenges he's faced. With an uplifting, humourous and positive attidtude, Michael shares his story in hopes of creating a more inclusive, diverse and compassionate world. Hear how Michael achieved his dream and how his book has become an educational tool, as he continues his travels speaking to teachers, students, parents and communities beyond the educational setting.
Michael Jacques is a 28 year old young adult, author of "Can't Read, Can't Write, Here's My Book", from the Niagara Region. He is Vice President of the board for Community Living Ontario. He is a committee member of MACSE which provides advice to the Ministry of Education on items related to Special Education in the province of Ontario. He has been recognized internationally as a young leader making positive changes in his community by the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. Recently he was named Citizen of the Year in his home town of Fonthill.
