The Importance of Belonging
The Importance of Belonging
As educators, we all want our students to belong, but that desire can feel unmet, especially for our most at risk children. This session will share the latest research on WHY belonging is crucial for our students and offers practical teaching strategies for HOW to foster an inclusive classroom environment.
Through heartfelt storytelling, humour, and current research, Kelly Cleeve shares her expertise and passion for close knit classroom communities. You will come away from this session armed with resources and new ideas to try in your classroom on Monday.
This presentation examines how evolving perspectives on autism impact outcomes for individuals and communities. By analyzing the shifts in cultural, medical, and educational views, it highlights how changing perceptions can lead to more inclusive practices, improved support systems, and greater understanding. The goal is to inspire a rethinking of how autism is framed in society.
