Educator Wellness and 10 Ways to De-Escalate Big Behaviours
Educator Wellness and 10 Ways to De-Escalate Big Behaviours
Students are showing up to school more dysregulated than ever. In order to support these students, we need to make sure we’re okay too! This session dives into 7 ways to curb burnout and then moves into how to support students with big behaviours.
“Manipulative, defiant, oppositional, attention-seeking…" - have you heard (or ever thought of) these words to describe a student? Let’s shift the lens! The 10 Ways to De-Escalate Big Behaviours Workshop dives into practical ways to understand and teach the brain while viewing students from a developmental lens. We will be reminded that, when our students are dysregulated, our number one job is to de-escalate. In this session, you will learn 10 practical ways to support your students in the moments when (not if) big behaviours appear. You will be reminded that kids who need love and support the most are often the hardest to give it to, and that this life-changing work that you do is far from easy. We know that in order to support our students, we must first start with ourselves. In this 90-minute session Angela will also cover 7 practical ways to curb burnout - because if we're not okay, those we support won’t be either.
