In this session, supporting autistic students' communication skills wll be discussed. Evidence-based peer-mediated strategies will be introduced to support meaningful interactions in the early school years. Learn to integrate strategies into play and routines to increase social communication with peers, how to use reinforcement, prompting, and motivating materials, and how to promote positive inclusive attitudes of students towards their autistic peers.
Adriana Karka has been with Geneva Centre for Autism's training division, Sonderly, since 2007 and is currently the Manager of Training. She has been a passionate bilingual trainer, curriculum developer, and consultant for education professionals in Canadian and international communities. Adriana holds a Master of Education degree with a focus on Developmental Psychology and Mental Health from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
